The Cardiff range of vision tests, also known as the Cardiff Cards tests, is designed especially for children
and incorporates tests of visual acuity, contrast sensitivity
and near acuity. The Cardiff
Acuity Test and Cardiff
Contrast Test are aimed particularly at the hard-to-test age
group, 12 months to 3 years, although both can be used for older
children and adults with intellectual impairment. The Cardiff
Near Test is suitable for children from 3 years.
The Cardiff tests were developed by
Dr. J. Margaret Woodhouse, at the School of Optometry & Vision
Sciences, Cardiff University,
UK. All have been rigorously validated in scientific studies.
The three tests are available individually, all are portable and each comes with its own carry-case and full instructions.
